Foundation and Footing Services
A foundation carries the building into stable ground and keeps water away from it. On the rocky, sloping ground common across North Arkansas, excavation and drainage usually matter more than the concrete — and most foundation failures are water failures. Sundown pours footings and foundations throughout the region.
Ground first
Solid rock to deep clay, sometimes inside the same footprint. What is down there sets everything else.
What is under the building decides the foundation, and around here that ranges from solid rock to deep clay, sometimes within the same footprint. Rock is expensive to excavate but excellent to build on; clay is the opposite.
This is the stage where surprises are most expensive, which is why we would rather find out what is there early than price a guess and revise it later.

How it works
Your foundations in four steps
No mystery about what happens or when. This is the same sequence on every job we take.
We look at the ground
Rock, clay or something in between — what is down there sets everything else.
Priced with the unknowns named
Rock is expensive to excavate, so we tell you as soon as we know rather than at the end.
Excavated, formed, poured
Footings set into assessed ground, with grading and drains done as part of the job.
Ready to build on
Cured, checked and handed over — to us for the build, or to whoever is putting it up.
Drainage is part of the foundation
Most foundation failures are water failures, so drainage is designed with the footing rather than after it.
Water is the usual culprit
Most foundation problems are water problems. Ground water moving toward a building, or a site graded so run-off collects against a wall, will eventually cause movement no matter how good the concrete is.
Designed in, not added on
Grading, drains and how water leaves the site are designed with the foundation rather than after it.
Rely on proven craftsmanship, every project
The same crew pours the slab, frames the barn and finishes the shop.

Metal Roof Installation
New standing seam and exposed-fastener metal roofing, specified for the weather this region actually gets.

Metal Roof Repairs
Leaks traced to the actual entry point and put right — fasteners, flashing, laps and storm damage.

Metal Roof Replacement
Old covering off, deck made good, new metal roof on — with the condition underneath checked before anything goes back.

Custom Home Building
Ground-up homes taken from site work and foundation through to a finished, weather-tight build.

Pole Barn Construction
Post-frame barns, shops and outbuildings sized to the job — including turnkey site work and slab.

Shops & Garages
Workshops and garages built to be worked in — proper slab, proper doors, proper ventilation.

Siding
Siding fitted over a proper weather barrier, with the flashing at openings done right.

Concrete Pads
Slabs, footings and pads poured to spec, so whatever goes on top of them sits level and stays level.

Car Ports
Covered parking built to stay put — because an open-sided roof has to be held down, not just covered over.

Foundations questions
The things people ask us most often before booking this work.
What kind of foundations do you pour?
Footings and foundations for homes, shops, barns and additions, along with the excavation and drainage that go with them.
What happens if you hit rock?
It is common here. Rock is excellent to build on but expensive to excavate, so it changes the cost rather than the feasibility. We will tell you as soon as we know rather than presenting it at the end.
Can you build a foundation on a steep lot?
Yes, and most of our ground is sloped. Steep sites mean stepped footings, retaining and careful drainage, all of which need pricing properly rather than being absorbed as an afterthought.
How long does a foundation take?
Excavation and forming usually take longer than the pour itself, and cure time then sets when work can continue above. We give you a stage schedule so the sequence is clear.
Do you handle drainage and grading?
Yes, and we treat it as part of the foundation rather than a separate job. Most foundation failures are drainage failures.
Can you repair an existing foundation?
Come and look and we will tell you honestly what we find. Some problems are straightforward; others need an engineer, and we will say so rather than attempt something that needs a specialist.
Do I need an engineer?
For unusual ground, significant slope or larger structures, often yes, and we would rather you had one. We will tell you when we think it is warranted.
What time of year is best?
Most of the year works. Very wet spells make excavation difficult and extreme temperatures affect curing, so there are periods we will recommend waiting.
Do you do the whole build or just the foundation?
Either. Plenty of our foundation work leads into a full build with us, but we are equally happy pouring a foundation for a building someone else is putting up.
What areas do you cover?
Within our area. Foundation work at the far edge of that radius is possible but worth discussing, as it is a multi-visit job.
